CONEVAL PUBLISHES THE EVOLUTION OF THE LABOR POVERTY TREND INDEX (ITLP) FOR THE SECOND QUARTER OF 2010

The ITLP shows the quarterly trend of the proportion of people who cannot acquire the food basket with their labor income.

This information is useful to view the short-term trends of two fundamental elements of poverty: labor income and food prices.

During the second quarter of 2010, the indicator dropped 0.5% regarding that same year’s first quarter.

The second quarter of 2010, the indicator decreased 2.9% regarding the same period for the previous year.
Up to the second quarter of this year the indicator shows a combined reduction of 3.2%.

Between the fourth quarter of 2008 and the fourth quarter of 2009 there was an increase of at least 6.8% in the proportion of people who cannot buy a food basket with their income.
